In their earlier match, Metro South West had played with only 10 players, albeit two of them being Troy Sutherland and former Kookaburra Glen Turner
For this match, Sydney were not only matched against the two stars, but their opponents had managed to find 3 additional players, making Sydney's task all the more difficult against the higher ranked opponent.
Sydney were able to keep the Metro SW team realtively quiet in the first half and while disappointed to concede 2 goals, were confident they could continute to soak up the pressure and build some of their own in the second half.
Sadly, Sydney were their own worst enemy as they started the second half, conceding 2 goals in the first 90 seconds, effectively ending any hopes of a good second half performance. Metro SW continued to pile on the pressure and exposed Sydney right across the park, rattling in 5 second half goals.
Sydney did manage to capitalise once, with Scott Laird grabbing a field goal late in the match to help ease the goal difference.
