Player – Information Sheet

INFORMATION SHEET FOR STATE REPRESENTATIVE NOMINEES

This information sheet outlines the conditions, cost estimates and nominee responsibilities you must consider and abide by if you wish to represent New South Wales Masters in any sanctioned event.

Most importantly all information requested must be provided within the timeframe stipulated by the Men’s Masters Sub Committee to ensure you are eligible for selection in an NSW Mens Masters Hockey Team.

Conditions of Nomination:

All nominees must complete the ONLINE player nomination form electronically by 12 midnight on the Saturday prior to their championships. The only way to nominate is via the below Revolutionise registration link https://www.hockeynsw.com.au/events/89221/ or go to the home page of NSW Mens Masters Hockey website.  No paper version will be accepted.  All nominees must ensure that they have made the appropriate enquires regarding time off to participate for the full term of their age division’s championships.

Selector’s Identification Bands:

All players who have nominated for State Selection are to wear an identifying band at the State Championships to assist the Selectors in their duties.  Managers will collect the bands from the TD’s at each State Championship and distribute them to the nominating players in their teams.

Dates and Venue:

The 2021 Australian Mega Masters Championships (Men and Women) will be held at Newcastle, Central Coast (Wyong) and Maitland Hockey complexes.  At this stage, the Nationals will be between 23rd September to 9th October 2021.

The actual start date of each age division is currently unknown and will only be known once all state team nominations are received by Australian Masters committee and the draw completed.

Below are the dates for the 2021 NSW School Holidays to be take into consideration for your nomination.

2021 NSW Spring School Holidays

START

Monday 20/9/21

FINISH

Friday 1/10/21

You will be required to arrive at the National Championships venue a minimum of 2 days before your competition begins to settle into accommodation and take part in training (training times are unknown at this stage and will not be known until closer to the event).  ALL PLAYERS ARE REQUIRED TO BE AT THE SCHEDULED TRAINING SESSIONS.

Age Divisions:

Depending on nominations NSW hope to select teams in the following age divisions–over 34 (1 team), over 40 (2 teams), over 45 (2 teams), over 50 (2 teams), over 55 (2/3 teams), over 60 (2 teams), over 65 (2 teams), over 70 (1 team) and an over 75 (1 team).  The actual number of teams per age groups will be determined by the Master’s Committee at each State Championships and additional teams may be selected.

Availability:

All team members must be available for the entire period of the championships or the period nominated by HNSW Men’s Masters Committee which includes your scheduled training day.  Do not take for granted that you can arrive whenever you like unless you have express permission from the NSW Masters Committee.  Managers cannot give you approval only the Master’s Committee have the authority.

State Training:

Over 34, 45, 50 - Central Coast (Wyong) weekend of 14-15 August 2021, and each team will train on the Saturday afternoon and again Sunday morning and this training is Compulsory.

Over 55-75 teams - Port Macquarie weekend of 21-22 August 2021, and each team will train on the Saturday afternoon and again Sunday morning and this training is Compulsory.

The State Training will be your last chance to pick up your uniforms.  To assist players in travelling etc to their compulsory training a $100 subsidy amount will be afforded to them in advance and this will be deducted off the Players levy fee.  If a player does not travel to training, he has not incurred any travel costs and therefore is not entitled to the subsidy and will receive an additional $100 invoice.

Acceptance fee:

All players selected to represent NSW Men’s Masters must pay a $200 acceptance fee within 14 days of selection.

You will receive an invoice via Hockey NSW Finance and this $200 payment will be credited against your overall player’s levy.  The payment of this fee is your acknowledgement to NSW Masters Committee that you officially accept the selected position.

Non-payment of the acceptance fee by the player within the stipulated timeframe will place this player in the position of being withdrawn from the team and replaced.   All fees MUST be paid by the due date on the invoice.  Do not assume it is okay to let the due date pass without paying your acceptance fee. If you are unable to meet this due date you must contact the Master’s Coordinator before the date falls due for an extension of payment.  NSW Hockey nor your Manager have the authority to grant an extension.

Withdrawal from a team after selection and acceptance payment may result in loss of the acceptance fee and/or an administration fee.

Players Levy:

A Player Levy of $750 (to be confirmed) has been applied, however each player who incurs a cost to travel to training will be subsidised by $100 from the HNSW Men’s Masters Reserves to assist the players with the costs of travelling to State Training.

The Players Levy will apply to all players and is formulated to cover the costs of managers, administration, medical staff, umpires & to meet tournament entry fees, after match hospitality and various other running costs.

Final Payment:

The final levy and any other cost items invoiced through HNSW Men’s Masters must be paid in full by Monday 9th August 2021.  Failure to meet these deadlines may result in you being withdrawn from the team with no refund of any kind.  You will receive further advice from the Coordinator and/or through your team manager following your selection.

Accommodation:

There is an understanding that ideally all participants will stay at Hockey NSW Masters arranged accommodation.  In this way team unity can be maintained and overall management of the teams will be most efficient and economical.

It was raised in several of the 2019 Managers, Captains and Vice Captains reports that they feel it is a far greater benefit if the team are staying together or near each other.

You are fully responsible for all the payments for your accommodation.  You may, if you wish, arrange your own accommodation.  Please make sure that your booked dates correspond with your training commitments for the National Championships.

NSW Accommodation has been arranged through our travel agent, Sportslink.  Costs will vary depending on the apartment configuration.  We have secured a varied type of accommodation in Newcastle.  As mentioned at this stage we are unable to confirm which age groups are playing at what location.

You will provide your accommodation choice to your Manager (or if you find your own accommodation inform your Manager).  Those who choose to use the NSW Accommodation will receive a $200.00 invoiced from Sportslink for the booking.  Neither HNSW Men’s Masters nor other players sharing the accommodation with you will be covering any accommodation costs should you withdraw or find other accommodation after your booking has been confirmed.  It is strongly suggested that you take out travel insurance to recover any costs should you withdraw from the team.

Remaining payment for accommodation will be through Sportslink in full and will be due Wednesday 1st September 2021.  You will receive a final invoice from Sportlink with full details and payment date.

Full details of rooms and rates will be available to the selected players on the Accommodation request form.  Websites for the Accommodation are stated below:  Please check the website to ensure the accommodation will suit your needs.  All enquiries should be directed to Sportslink.

Travel:

All members selected will be responsible for their own travel to/from and during the Championships.

Transport:

Team buses will be not be allocated this year and the respective amount that would cover costs will not be included in the players levy.

Uniforms:

The uniform/gear orders will be completed online through Xpress Promotions.  Payment will be required at the time of ordering.  It is imperative that all players physically try on the uniforms/gear that will be available in various sizes at each of the State Championships through the Master’s Coordinator Tony Nixon 0417 217 651.  If you do not try on the gear and purchase the wrong size be advised that there is no exchange.

Orders must be submitted on-line within the required timeframe to ensure delivery of your uniform.  The appropriate link will be advised to all successful selected players.

Technical Bench Assistants (TO) 2021 National Championships

There is an expectation from Australian Masters Hockey Committee that each participating team will assist in providing Technical Bench Assistants again at this year’s Nationals.  Further information will be forthcoming from Australian Masters Committee prior to the Championships.

If you have any questions regarding this document please contact Tony Nixon, Masters Coordinator on 0417 217 651 or email

Note: The information provided on this sheet is a guideline in assisting NSW Men’s Masters Members in understanding general logistics and estimated costs associated with the National Championships at Newcastle and Surrounds 2021.  The estimates provided may alter and all members will be advised should this occur.
