We are less than five days away from taking the field for our first match at the 2018 Australian Men's Masters Hockey Championships.
When this team was selected, we were named as the Over 40/2's. If you look on the official draw, we are listed as NSW (in the B Division). If you look at the draw on this website, we are the Over 40/2's. Let's make it simple, we're the Waratahs!
There is a proud tradition with the Waratahs. Several of you have been a part of the team before. I was lucky enough to be part of two championships winning Waratah teams: -
- Darwin - 2008
- Bunbury - 2010
Wrapped around those years, the Waratahs also won : -
- Melbourne - 2009 (the final was all Blue)
- Canberra - 2011
But also keep in mind, we are representing NSW. With the exception of when we are playing the NSW 40/3's, we support other NSW teams on and off the field. We are blue!
Wear the shirt with pride. Off the field, your Waratah polo and cap will become your second skin, while on the field, your NSW singlet will be your source of pride. Play for NSW, play for the Waratahs, play for your family and friends, but most importantly, play for yourself.
As a striker, I have endured the lows of missing open goals (and strokes) while I know defenders have endured the pain of conceding own goals. If one of us makes a mistake, help him fix it. If someone does something brilliant, tell him.
We share our triumphs and defeats. You are not alone, you are part of the Waratahs!
