Welcome to the 2009 season!

With the commencement of the 2009 Sydney Veterans Hockey competition, there have been a number of changes made to the competitions. These include changes to the competition structure, rules and participating clubs.

Competition Changes

The competition now comprises 3 divisions, made up as follows: -

  • A Division (8 teams)
  • B Division (10 teams)
  • C Division (9 teams)

Additionally, the finals structure has also changed, with it reverting back to a straight knockout Semi-Final and a Grand Final.

Rule Changes

The [[FIH]] has introduced a mandatory Experimental Free Hit Rule for 2009. This rule is explained in full detail here.

Participating Clubs

2008, saw the final year of Moorebank's participation in the competition, but we are pleased to see the following clubs either join the competition for the first time, or field additional teams: -

  • Briars
  • Macarthur
  • Manly
  • Ryde
  • Sydney University
