Australian Mens Veterans Hockey Championships

Whew, I'm knackered!

I've just returned from playing in the Australian Mens Veterans Hockey Championships in Darwin. I am very proud to have been a member of the NSW Over 40's team who defeated Queensland 3-0, to win the Over 40's B Division final.  This was just one of 5 victories recorded by NSW at the tournament, and NSW were unlucky not to win a 6th title, with the Over 40's (A Division) side going down to Victoria in sudden-death Penalty Strokes.  Well played guys!

Having playing 10 games over 13 days, my mind and body are VERY tired. However the way a scratch team pulled together over the course of the tournament, highlights some of the reasons I play a team sport. It also shows that if I am going to continue to try to play at that level, I need to radically improve my fitness.

Thanks to all the other teams members, with pariticular thanks to Whitey and Mel, our fantatsic Physio and Massage Therapist.  Without them, many of the team would not have made it through the tournament.

Go the Blues!
